Re: 2013/2014 membership in IOUG

It’s time to renew your Iowa OCLC Users Group (IOUG) membership! If your institution is not already a member, I urge you to consider the benefits of joining our statewide group. IOUG facilitates communication among Iowa OCLC users and the State Library of Iowa. We provide training and discussion opportunities about OCLC programs, services and enhancements as well as networking opportunities for librarians.

This coming year is a time for major changes in OCLC. Catalogers are beginning to use the RDA system replacing AACRII. Interlibrary Loan changes are coming with the implementation of WorldShare, OCLC’s new platform for resource sharing. IOUG members are able to take advantage of a network of local libraries with answers to many of the questions that come with these major changes in technology. Our 2013 conference covered social networking as a major influence in how libraries connect with their patrons.

IOUG institutional memberships are still just $10.00 annually and allow any staff member at your library to participate in the various sections, sit on committees, and hold office. Personal memberships are available to individuals not affiliated with an OCLC library and are also just $10.00 annually.

To join IOUG or to continue your membership, simply complete the attached form. Please include the name, address, telephone number and e-mail address of the contact person in your library who will receive all IOUG mailings.

Return the form to:
